The annual CommsDay Edison Awards is a big night for the Australian telco sector, where everyone comes together to celebrate excellence across the industry. This year was a big night for Vocus, with the business winning awards for Best Enterprise Telco, Best Longhaul Network Operator, and Best Telecom Marketing Initiative.
“The CommsDay Edison Awards is always such a great night, recognising the amazing contribution and achievements of our industry, as well as it being a chance to catch up and network with friends and colleagues across the industry,” Vocus CEO Ellie Sweeney.
As a leading Australian fibre and network solutions provider, Vocus continues to invest in world-class infrastructure and technology partnerships to deliver high-performance connectivity to our enterprise and government customers across the country. In 2023, we delivered a number of successful projects for enterprise customers, such as a private LTE network for a major mining site, a network overhaul for a significant water utility, and a mobile network in the sky for disaster recovery. These projects and more were supported by Vocus’ expertise in secure and sovereign infrastructure, our world-class engineering, and our agile and flexible delivery model – all key factors that continue to set us apart in the market and make us the best telco for Australian enterprise.
2023 was another big year for Vocus and our investments in boosting the reach and capacity of our network. Major achievements included completing the Darwin-Jakarta-Singapore Cable, the first international fibre-optic cable into Darwin, upgrading our inter-capital network infrastructure to 800Gbps technology, and deploying Ciena’s WaveLogic 6 Extreme coherent technology across our longhaul and metro fibre links. These achievements are part of our strategy to reshape Australia's connectivity landscape and open new routes to further connect Australia to the global economy and support the flow of services, information and ideas. They also highlight how Vocus is using the latest network technology to provide our customers with speed, reliability and cost efficiency, while reducing the environmental impact of our network operations.
Following our landmark agreement with SpaceX, Vocus was the first to launch, market and sell low-earth orbit (LEO) satellite services to business and government customers in Australia. To maximise our first mover advantage, we produced and ran a distinctive, national, multi-media campaign featuring a stunning drone light show, a series of engaging content posts, a podcast series, and a website hub, all aimed at generating interest and demand for the Vocus Satellite – Starlink. Over 2023, the campaign delivered outstanding results in terms of reach, engagement, website traffic, sales, revenue, customer satisfaction, and sales pipeline.
